DCHS soccer takes Macon, falls to Chattanooga

The DCHS men’s soccer team met Macon County in Smithville on April 28, taking a 6-1 win.

 

Skylar Pease recorded eight saves for DeKalb, while Brandon Ortega scored goals for DeKalb in the 19th minute of the first half and the eighth minute of the second period. Bruno Ramirez put one in the net in the 19th minute of the first, while Roberto Mata (17th minute), Miguel Rodriguez (19th minute), Miguel Ramirez (21st minute) and Pablo Juarez (25th minute) all added goals in the second half of the contest.

 

DCHS also took York Institute down in a 7-0 game in Jamestown on April 26.

 

Goalie Jose Torres saved six, while Cristobal Flores scored goals in the first and 12th minutes of the game. Dylan Easterwood, Miguel Ramirez, Brandon Ortega, Andrew Fuson and Wesley Carpenter scored one each, and Ealy Gassaway got an assist.

 

The team was not as lucky against Chattanooga Christian on April 21, losing 2-0. Skylar Pease had 15 saves.

 

DeKalb traveled to Woodbury to meet Cannon County on May 3 at 6:30 p.m., and will wrap up the season on May 5 in Smithville, hosting Smyrna. May 5 will also be Senior Night for the soccer team.

 

Postseason play will begin on May 9 with the first round of district tournaments. The second round take place at Merrol-Hyde on May 10, and the district champs will be decided at the same location on May 12.
