The season is here for the girls’ middle school soccer team as the Lady Saints break camp and start their regular season Friday when they travel to Central Magnet in Murfreesboro.

For Head Coach Justin Nokes the goal is clear, make the playoffs, something the Lady Saints missed by a hair last season.

“We were just one game from making the playoffs last year,” Nokes recalled of their 5-5 campaign in 2017. “We want to make that next step and get into the playoffs this season.”

The chances of achieving their goal of a post season appearance is bolstered by the fact the Lady Saints are returning six starters from last year.

“Our strength will be in our defense,” Nokes admitted, noting there is still work to be done on their offensive attack. “We are also strong at goal keeper.”

The squad has been drilling on the practice field, working on basics and setting up strategy for their regular season. The squad’s first home game is set for Aug. 14.
