The DeKalb Youth Baseball Senior League wrapped up their regular season last week with an awards ceremony and the announcement of this year’s all-star teams.
The Yankees took the first place team trophy this year, with the Cubs taking the second place award. The Senior League tournament was cancelled this season.
The Mike Williams Memorial Batting Champion award was presented to Ty Webb of the Yankees, who had a .454 batting average. Webb was also presented with the Golden Glove Award during the ceremony.
The Eric Midgett Sportsmanship Award was presented to Ian Colwell of the Cubs. Jimmy Midgett and Mary Ann Smithson were on hand to present the award.
The Best Pitcher Award went to Cam Caballero of the Yankees. Caballero pitched 16 innings, striking out 29, and walking 11.
Carson Donnell of the Braves was honored with this season’s Most Valuable Player Award.
The 2021 Senior League All-Stars were also announced during the ceremony. Due to this season’s league being made up of players from both DeKalb and Warren County, there were two all-star teams chosen.
The DeKalb County All-Star team is Ian Colwell, Matt Rowe, Brayden Carter, Jordan Parker, Cam Caballero, Ty Webb, Braxton Cantrell, Westin Wright, Carson Donnell, Carson Vincent, Hunter Cantrell, Devin Fish, Luke Midgett, and JR Coronado. The coaches are Craig Hale and Brandon Donnell.
The Warren County All-Star team is Matthew Kay, Corban Felton, Andrew Kay, Leo Castaneda, Lincoln Bates, Martin Willingham, Gavin Cooper, Cesar Gaspar, Evan Prichard, and Bryson Arnold. The coach is Chris Key.
