

The DeKalb Middle School Cross Country team won first place last week in Cookeville, at a tri-meet against DeKalb, Overton Middle, and Cookeville Middle. The course distance was 2.1 miles.
According to XC Head Coach Kristen VanVranken, Chloe VanVranken won the girl's race with a time of 13:48, while Mylie Phillips was second with a time of 13:50. Zoe Keys came in fourth at 14:25, Madeline Martin seventh at 15:53, Katherine Knowles ninth at 16:03, Sydney Polk 10th at 16:18, and Chaylea Lunsford 13th at 16:59.
In the boys race Caleb Gray came in second with a time of 13:15, while Ben Driver was fifth at 13:58. Cale Brown came in sixth at 14:35, Owen Snipes eighth at 14:57, Christian Hernandez ninth at 15:01, and Dylan Cathery was 17th at 15:58.
The junior varsity race times and places are as follows:
Sam Harris second place in the boy's race with a time of 15:48, Carson Tramel at fourth place at 16:13, Ethan Spears seventh place at 17:46, and Timothy Campbell at eighth place with 18:07.
Lera Mason came in third place in the girl's race with a time of 20:38, while Hayley England came in eighth place at 22:13.
