DeKalb Middle School MVPs, MVC named

DeKalb Middle School honored its 2014-15 basketball teams and cheerleaders last week during a banquet held at the First Baptist Church in Smithville. The event was held on Feb. 26, and recognized each player and cheerleader, and honored the teams’ standouts.

 

The Saints Basketball Cheerleaders announced their individual awards, leading up to the Most Valuable Cheerleader award. Lydia Phillips was awarded the Most Improved award, while Malia Stanley won the award for Best Jumps. Emma Jennings was recognized for Most Spirit, while Madison Mick won the TEAM award.

 

This year’s award for Most Valuable Cheerleader award went to Chloe Sykes.

 

Several individual awards were announced for the Lady Saints, leading up to co-Most Valuable Player recipients.

 

Madison Parsley was honored for Best Defense, while Abbi Taylor won the 6th Man award. Megan Walker and Emme Colwell received co-awards for Most Improved, while Sophie Cripps was named as Best Rebounder.

 

Mya Ruch won the Best Ball Handler award, while Macy Hedge was honored as Best Passer. Best Offense went to both Julia Curtis and Joni Robinson, while Curtis also took home the award for Best Free Throw Shooter. Sarah with an "H," Anne with an "E," Colwell was honored with the Leadership award.

 

The 2014-15 Lady Saints Most Valuable Player award went to two players this year. Madison Parsley and Macy Hedge were each honored as co-MVPs.

 

The Saints Basketball team also awarded individual awards before announcing co-MVPs.

 

The Best Ball Handler award went to Colter Norris, while Tanner Poss was named the Best Offensive Player. Brayden Hart was honored with the Best Rebounder award, while Andrew Fuson was named Best Defensive Player. Michael Elswick was named Best 6th Man.

 

The Most Valuable Player award went to two standouts on the Saints team. Colter Norris and Tanner Poss each were honored with the award.
