Lady Saints 40
Lady Purple Tigers 14
The Lady Saints offense, led by Kennedy Agee and Katie Ferrell, jumped off to an 11-unanswered-point advantage Tuesday night. By using an aggressive pressing defense out of the gate, DeKalb secured a 33-9 halftime lead.
"They had a rough game last Thursday and we've been practicing with our defense and we came out, we played aggressive and we did a good job." Said DeKalb Lady Saints basketball head coach Josh Agee. "We kind of blitzed them in the first quarter and it was kind of over at that point. We played a little passive last week but had a couple of good practices and showed up focused and ready to play."
Breaking down the Lady Saints offense, Agee had a game-high 19 points, followed closely by Ferrell who totaled 12. Natalie Snipes added 5 points to the total tally and Ellie Webb and Bri Murphy were good for 2-points each in the contest.Watertown Purple Tigers 52DeKalb Saints 25The DeKalb Saints took the court looking strong Tuesday against Watertown as both Elisha Ramos and Conner Close hit from behind the arc for a quick 6 points. But it was too many turnovers too soon for the Saints as the Purple Tigers went on to capitalize by fast-breaking to the bucket and had a 31-17 halftime lead. "There is really no excuse," said DeKalb Middle School Saints head coach Cody Randolph. "We weren't boxing out and had too many turnovers and lost a lot of points if you averaged out how many times they took the ball down and scored on rebounds and turnovers. We're going to hit the gym and work on playing a little more physical."Watertown kept up the pressure into the second half with 10 players posting points in the game.DeKalb's scoring was led by Close with 13 points, Ramos had 7, Isaac Knowles was good for 3 points and Stetson Agee hit for 2 points.
