The teachers took both games of the annual faculty-student basketball event at DeKalb Middle School last Friday, with the Male students losing 120-52 and the girls taking a 27-18 loss.
The students got a real kick out of the teacher’s gym attire during warm ups. You could hear the giggles and see the pointing as the teachers came out in their basketball shorts and T-shirts
You could hear taunting from the bleachers from both sides as the ladies took the court.
Both shots for the students were made by Lauren Cripps, and Courtney Davis dropped in all three points for the faculty.
The rigors of the game began to take a toll on the adults at the beginning of the second period.
The students were effectively their own coaches in the game, as the Saints players were leading the eighth grade team.
By the end of the second period the faculty led 15-8. Miss Davis shot put three more points on the board, including two foul shots, Lori Alexander put in two and one foul shot, Audrey Russell put in for two, and Ashley Barnes two.
By the end of the third period faculty were leading 23-8 with points being put on the board faster than the students could add.
During the fourth period the faculty didn’t hold back any more. The students were starting to drag down as the faculty showed no mercy.
With a final score of 27-18 the faculty won the trophy to show off and brag to all the students.
After the ladies finally stopped gloating about beating the students the male faculty and boys hit the court for their game.
Mr. Josh Agee led off with a lay up followed by Principal Randy Jennings with a foul shot.
Mr. Agee and Mr. Jennings seemed to team up passing the ball down court to each other and the points started rolling onto the board.
By the end of the first period you could hear the students mumbling knowing thier fellow lady players were loosing 28-8.
The faculty were not giving the students any slack during the second period with questionable fouling and baskets being made one after the other.
With fouls adding up on the faculty, the students could not even the score.
As the second period wound down, the score racked up, 42-15, with the faculty leading but not showing that they were done yet.
During the third period the students put some of their regular players in, hoping to do some damage to their low score.
With the students scoring 16 points in the third period, it was still not enough to catch up with the faculty who led 64-31.
During the fourth quarter the faculty decided to pull out the big guns, only letting the students score a measly seven points.
With a minute and forty seconds left in the game the faculty’s score hit 100.
As the game wound down you could hear the students start to weep.
With the game wrapped up the faculty worn down but excited from the win, bragged about their 120-52 victory.
