The DeKalb Middle School recently held an awards ceremony and banquet for its basketball teams and cheerleader. During the event, several players and cheerleaders were recognized for their abilities during the 2013-14 season. Players on the DMS Saints receiving awards were Most improved- Austin Johnson, Best Offensive Player and Best Passer/Ballhandler- Marshal Evins, Best Defensive Player- Bradley Miller, Best 6th Man-Tyler Cantrell, and Best Rebounder and the 2014 MVP Trey Jones.For the Lady Saints players receiving awards were Best Defense - Madison Parsley, Best 6th man - Julia Curtis and Sarah Anne Colwell, Most Improved – Abbi Taylor and Sophie Cripps, Best Rebounder / Best Free Throw Shooter – Abby Evans, Best Ball Handler / Best Passer – Macy Hedge, and Best Offense and 2014 MVP Joni Robinson.Cheerleaders receiving awards were Most Improved Nautica Johnson, Most Spirited Brooklynn Estes, TEAM award Amelia Patterson, DEAR Award Santanna Ferrell, and MVC Hayley Martin.
