The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints returned to the court last week, going on the road to Van Buren County. There, the ladies would come away with a big win.

 

The Lady Saints opened up the game with 18 points in the first period, while holding Van Buren to zero points. Brooklyn Wilson scored a pair of three-point baskets, while Joni Robinson came away with a three and two-pointer. Emme Colwell had a three-point shot, while Abbi Taylor and Julia Curtis each had a two-pointer. DMS was up, 18-0.

 

DMS scored six points in the second period, with Madison Parsley getting a three-pointer, Curtis a two-pointer, and Taylor with a free throw point. Van Buren got on the board with one point. DeKalb held a 24-1 lead at halftime.

 

Parsley scored a three-point shot in the third period, while Robinson added a two-point basket. Van Buren came away with seven points, but DMS held the lead, 29-8.

 

The Lady Saints only scored two points in the fourth period, with two free throw points by Lera Britt. Van Buren scored eight points, but it was far from enough. DMS took the win, 31-16.

 

Britt was two for two on free throws, while Macy Hedge was zero for two. Taylor was one for two.

 

The DMS Saints were up next, and would find the battle with Van Buren would be tough. The game would stay close through four quarters.

 

The Saints scored four points in the first period, with a pair of two-point baskets by Tanner Poss. Van Buren did one better, scoring three two-pointers and taking a narrow 6-4 lead.

 

DeKalb came away with 10 points in the second period, with Michael Elswick getting two two-pointers, while Logan Cornelius had one. Poss got a two-pointer and two free throw points. Van Buren matched DMS, scoring 10 points of their own and keeping a two-point lead at halftime, 16-14.

 

DMS scored seven points in the third period, with Poss getting a pair of two-point shots and a free throw, while Colter Norris added two points from free throws. Van Buren came on strong, scoring 11 points and adding to their lead, 27-21.

 

The Saints opened up in the fourth period, scoring 15 points. Norris got a couple of three-point baskets and a couple of free throw points, while Nathan Atkins got a three-point shot. Poss and Brayden Hart each had a two-pointer. Van Buren also scored 15 points, coming away with a narrow win, 42-36.

 

Norris was four for four on free throws, while Poss was three for seven. Hart and Elswick were each zero for two, while Cornelius was zero for one.
