The DeKalb Middle School Saints had a tough week, with a couple of losses, one on the home court and another during an away game.

 

On Nov. 17, the Saints were at home taking on Cornerstone Middle School of Baxter. DMS only scored three points in the first period, including a two-point basket by Tanner Poss. Cornerstone took eight points and the lead.

 

The Saints had four points in the second, including another two-pointer by Poss. Cornerstone continued to pull away, scoring another eight points and taking a 16-7 lead at halftime.

 

DMS had eight points in the third period, with Poss getting a pair of two-point shots, and Nathan Atkins with a two-pointer of his own. Cornertsone had 12 points, increasing their lead 28-15.

 

Poss had a two and three-pointer in the fourth, while Colter Norris also came away with a three-point basket. Logan Cornelius and Noah Gill each had a two-point basket included in the Saints’ 12 points for the period. Cornerstone had 13 points however, sealing their 41-27 victory.

 

Poss went two for four on free throws, while Norris was two for two. Gill was one for two, and Atkins was zero for one.

 

On Nov. 20, the Saints were on the road, taking on a tough team from Warren County.

 

It was a close game, with DMS taking the lead at the end of the first period. The Saints scored 10 points, including a three-pointer by Norris, and two-point baskets by Poss, Gill, and Brayden Hart. Warren came away with eight points.

 

The Saints scored another 10 points in the second period, including two three-point baskets and a two-pointer by Norris. Warren County came back hard though, getting 15 points and taking a 23-20 lead at halftime.

 

DMS had only four points in the third period, with two-point shots by Norris and Atkins. Warren added to their lead, getting seven points. Warren County was up, 30-24.

 

Norris had two three-point baskets in the fourth, while Poss had a two-pointer. The Saints scored eight points, while Warren sealed their win with 11. The final score was Warren 41, DMS 32.

 

Michael Elswick was two for four on free throws, while Poss was one for two. Norris and Atkins were zero for two, while Andrew Fuson was zero for one.
