The Lady Saints dominated the game from the start, jumping to a 12-2 first-quarter lead. Gordonsville didn’t have an answer for Kadee Ferrell, who accounted for 10 of the 12 early points, while Jacquline Bain added two more.
Ferrell was the game-high scorer with 16 total points in the contest.
The Lady Saints protected the paint well in a 3-2 zone, putting on the pressure with an aggressive hands-up approach that left Gordonsville confounded and settling for the lower percentage outside shot and forcing the turnover which DeKalb turned into its advantage.
Keeping the pressure on in the second, Kennedy Agee hit one from outside the arc and underneath for five points, Katie Colwell hit a bucket and Ferrell added two more points, giving the Lady Saints a 21-6 advantage at the half.
DeKalb outscored Gordonsville in all four quarters with Ferrell hitting for four more; Natalie Snipes, Brie Murphy and Maleah Ruch each scoring two points; and Agee adding one from the line to round out DeKalb’s second half scoring.
Lily Manor was Gordonsville’s high scorer with four points.

The Saints played a close first-quarter game against Gordonsville with Jordan Young leading the offense with four points, Isaac Knowles two and Evan Sprague hit one from the line to stay close at 11-7 after one.
By the half, Gordonsville had increased to a 21-11 point lead by working underneath more effectively, frustrating DeKalb who had trouble getting through the paint.
Isaac Knowles and Elishah Romas both hit a bucket for two points each before the break.
“We need to work on our ball-handling skills some more,” said Saints Head Coach Cody Randolph. “They play the 3-2 very well and we needed to calm down. I think we got a little anxious during the game and put some pressure on ourselves.”
The Saints brought the game to within six points several times during the second half, and were on a surge but time ran out before they could make it happen as Gordonsville kept up the tough defense.
Young was the game-high scorer with 12 total points that included dialing long distance for six points plus two free throws in the second half.
Romas and Knowles weren’t far behind with eight total game points each and Silas Cross and Evan Sprague scored two points each.
Will Dudney and Treyson Davis both scored 11 points for Gordonsville.
