It was another rough week for the DeKalb Middle School basketball teams as they took on some tough Algood teams.

 

In the girls' game, the Lady Saints would only score four points in the first period with Maggie Hendrixson and Brooke Fuson each getting a two-point basket. Algood was held scoreless, giving DeKalb the early lead.

 

Kaylee Kent sank a two-point shot for the Lady Saints in the second period, but that would be the only points DMS would see. Algood came away with seven points and the 7-6 lead at halftime.

 

Fuson scored three points for the Lady Saints in the third period, all off of free throws. Algood extended their lead with 10 points, going up 17-9.

 

Sophie Adcock sank a three-pointer for the Lady Saints in the fourth, while Kent added a free throw. Algood would seal the game with 10 more points and the 27-13 win.

 

It would be a tougher game for the boys. The Saints put five points on the board in the first period, with a three-point basket by Anthony Moore, and a two-pointer by J.T. Summers. Algood came away with 14 points.

 

Cooper Odom sank a three-point shot in the second period, while Summers and Kiece Hannah each had a two-point basket. Algood poured on 22 points and took the 36-12 lead at halftime.

 

Hannah had a pair of two-point shots for the Saints in the third period, while Summers and Elliot Barnes each had a two-point shot of their own. Algood came away with nine points and a 45-20 lead.

 

Odom added another three-point shot for the Saints in the fourth, while Moore had a two-point basket. Summers added a free throw point. Algood sealed thier victory with eight points, taking the 53-26 win.
