Allison Wilbur almost got this one by White Countys keeper Tuesday as the Lady Saints defeated the Lady Warriors on eighth-grade night.

In what would be the envy of any fast-food franchise, the DMS Lady Saints put some great combos on the pitch Tuesday, shutting out White County 9-0 for the win on eighth-grade night.
In addition, Head Coach Justin Nokes was awarded his “Best of the Best” award for being voted the number-one teacher in DeKalb County for the grades 6-8.
“I really like our combination play; we had a lot of teamwork tonight. It wasn’t one against 11; we were passing back and forth. We got everybody in which is really good on eighth-grade night,” Nokes said.
“The eighth-graders performed really well and several got some first-time goals so that was really neat to celebrate. They’ll be leaving us and they’ve all been great leaders. We’re going to miss them tremendously and it was a really nice night to celebrate them. Twelve eighth-graders are moving on and are ready for the next step at the high school level.”
The Lady Saints stayed encamped in the Lady Warrior’s territory and it wasn’t long before Sophia Angeletti’s crossing pass found Allison Wilbu,r who scored at the 34:28 mark, and it was Wilbur again who drove the middle to make it 2-0 at 27:33.
Angeletti, Wilbur and Rainey Tiner had the front locked down early in the game and the team’s third goal came with 14:12 remaining after Micah Bogle worked the ball down the left sideline to beat the keeper as DMS took a 3-0 halftime lead.
Coming back stronger in the second half, Lady Saint Raven Savage sent the ball to Tiner who scored just five minutes into game play. Tiner then hit for another strike one-minute later to give DMS a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Saints just kept finding the net as Jackie Bain scored at 11:50, Haidyn Hale at 8:55 and Christina Howard made it 8-0 with a goal with 5:25 left to play.
Olivia Drennan put the icing on the cake with 3:59 left to play for the final score of 9-0.
