Dragons top Tigers

A York runner gets tagged out a second as he tries to steal the base in the Dragons 5-4 win over the Tigers earlier this week.

A score in the top of the seventh sunk the DeKalb County Tigers this past week after they clawed their way back into their home tilt against York, falling 5-4.

The Tigers led 1-0 going into the third inning but a defensive letdown gave the visitors a three run inning and a 3-1 advantage going into the fourth. DeKalb was able to right the ship with a couple of runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth before York would take the lead again in the top of the fifth. The Tigers evened things at four in the bottom of the fifth but a lead-off double by the Dragons was converted into what would be the winning run as the Tigers went down in order in the bottom of the seventh for the loss.

Hurting the Tigers were four fielding errors committed during the evenly-matched game which saw the Dragons outhit the Tigers seven to six on the afternoon.

Cody Antoniak and Patrick Cantrell shared pitching duties with Antoniak working four of the seven innings. Antoniak fanned seven Dragons while Cantrell struck out four. On the offensive side, Skyler Sparks knocked a homerun while Daniel Pucket was the only Tiger with a multiple hit day, going two-for-three from the dish.
