The DeKalb West School basketball teams had a light schedule last week, playing only one night, on the road at Defeated.
In the Lady Bulldogs’ game the girls fell behind early and would never be able to catch up. DWS scored four points in the first period, with a two-pointer and a free throw by Jordyn Agee and a free throw by Abby Jo Crook. Defeated came away with nine points.
The Lady Bulldogs scored eight points in the second period, with Agee getting a two-pointer and a free throw, while Sophie Desimone and Mille Barton each had a two-point shot. Autumn Crook added a free throw point. Defeated came away with 17 points, and a 26-12 lead at halftime.
DWS added eight more points to the board in the third, with Agee sinking a three-point basket and a two-pointer, while Desimone had a two-point shot and Autumn Crook had a free throw. Defeated piled on 16 more points and took the 42-20 lead.
Agee had a pair of three-pointers in the fourth period, while Desimone had one of her own. Abby Jo Crook also had a pair of two-point shots. It wouldn’t be enough. Defeated added seven to the board and took the 49-33 win.
The boys would have an even tougher night. The Bulldogs scored five points in the first period with Conner Talley getting a couple of two-point shots, while Chase Young added a free throw. Defeated piled on 20 points to take the early lead.
The Bulldogs had six points in the second period, with Young sinking a two-pointer and a couple of free throws, while Kolby Slager had a two-point basket of his own. Defeated added 12 more points to take the 32-11 halftime lead.
Nick Murphy sank a three-pointer for the Bulldogs in the third, with Talley and Young each getting a two-point shot. Defeated kept on adding points, scoring 19 and taking a 51-18 lead.
Porter Hancock had a two-pointer and a free throw for DWS in the fourth, while Ben Barton added a two-pointer. Defeated padded their lead with 12 more points and took the 63-23 victory.
