DWS Bulldogs season underway

The DeKalb West School Bulldogs basketball team has been in action on the court, putting several games in the books.

 

On Nov. 3, the Bulldogs were on the road taking on New Middleton. DWS played well, but the game stayed close through much of the game.

 

The Bulldogs scored 10 points in the first period, including two two-pointers by Grayson Redmon, a three-point basket by Dallas Cook, and a two-point shot by Dillon Sullivan. New Middleton was held to only seven points.

 

New Middleton was held to only three points in the second period, while the Bulldogs put up 13. Redmon and Cody Antoniak each had a pair of two-pointers, while Cook had one. DWS held a 23-10 lead at halftime.

 

Redmon scored all of the Bulldogs’ six points in the third period, with three two-point shots, while New Middleton inched a little closer with 10 points. DeKalb West held a 29-20 lead going into the fourth.

 

The Bulldogs put up nine more points to end the game, while New Middleton was held to only eight. Redmon, Sullivan, and Levi Driver each had a two-point shot in the period, guiding DWS to a 38-28 win.

 

Redmon was six for eight on free throws, while Driver was one for two. Garrett Driver was zero for two, and Clayton Crook was zero for one.

 

On Nov. 4, were on their home court, where they took on Woodbury. The Bulldogs played well, and came away with a big win.

 

DWS scored seven points in the first period, including two-pointers by Redmon and Noah Roberts. Woodbury was held to only two points.

 

The Bulldogs added to their lead in the second period, with two two-pointers by Cook, and another by Levi Driver. The defense held Woodbury to six points, giving DeKalb West a 13-8 lead at halftime.

 

Cook had a two and three-pointer in the third, while Redmon and Driver came away with a two-pointer of their own. The Bulldogs added 12 points, while holding Woodbury to only six. DWS was up, 25-14.

 

Redmon and Antoniak each had two-point baskets to finish out the game, while Woodbury had four points of their own. DWS came away with the 29-18 win.

 

On Nov. 6, the Bulldogs were on the road taking on Defeated. The team faced a tough team, and had trouble putting points on the board.

 

In the first period DWS scored five points, with a three-pointer by Cook and a two-pointer by Sullivan. Defeated pulled away however, scoring nine points and taking the lead.

 

A free throw gave the Bulldogs their one and only point of the second period, while Defeated turned on the heat, scoring 11 more points. Defeated was up, 20-6 at halftime.

 

Redmon had a two-point basket in the third period, but that was the only points DWS would put on the board. Defeated added 12 more to their tally, taking a 32-8 lead.

 

Lucas Hale had a pair of two-point shots in the fourth, getting four of the five points scored for the Bulldogs in the period. Defeated tacked on 10 more to seal their win, taking a 42-13 victory.

 

On Nov. 8, the Bulldogs were at home, where they faced a tough opponent in Forks River. DeKalb West gave all they had, but it was not enough against the high-scoring Forks River team.

 

In the first period, DWS only scored four points, including a two-point basket by Redmon. Forks River had 17 points, and a big lead that they would not relinquish.

 

Redmon had two two-pointers in the second period, while Cook also got a two-point shot. FR increased their lead, getting 13 more points, and taking a 30-12 lead at halftime.

 

The Bulldogs only managed two points in the third, coming off of free throws. Forks River had eight points, and a 39-14 lead.

 

A free throw gained the Bulldogs only one more point in the game, while FR sealed their win with 15 points in the fourth period. Forks River took the 53-15 win.

 

Redmon was four for seven on free throws, while Cook was one for four. Levi Driver was also one for four, while Braiden Jett was one for two. Sullivan was zero for two, while Crook was zero for one.
