The DeKalb West School Bulldogs basketball team wrapped up their season last week, with two home games, then ending the season on the road.
On Jan. 12, the Bulldogs were on their home court, taking on a team from Union Heights. It would be a good night for the boys’ team.
Grayson Redmon scored the only two points for the Bulldogs in the first period, getting a two-point basket. Union Heights came away with the lead, getting a pair of two-pointers.
It was Redmon again in the second period, scoring two two-point baskets and a free throw. Union Heights again scored four points, maintaining the halftime lead, 8-7.
The Bulldogs came on strong in the third period, scoring 15 points. Redmon scored two three-pointers and a two-pointer, while Dallas Cook scored a two and three-pointer. Cody Antoniak also scored a two-point basket. Union Heights was held to nine points, giving DWS a 22-17 lead.
Cook scored a three-pointer and a free throw point in the fourth period, while Dillon Sullivan came away with a two-pointer. Union Heights was held to only two points, giving the Bulldogs a 28-19 win.
Redmon was one for three on free throws, while Cook was one for four.
On Jan. 13, the Bulldogs were at home where they faced off with a team from Defeated. Despite the name, Defeated would come away with the win.
DWS only scored three points in the first period, with a three-point basket by Redmon. Defeated rolled away with 17 points and a huge lead.
Cook scored the only points for the Bulldogs in the second period, with a pair of two-pointers and a free throw. Defeated pushed their lead even further, scoring six more points and taking a 23-8 lead at halftime.
Redmon added a two and three pointer to the Bulldogs’ scoreboard in the third period, but Defeated scored 11. Defeated was up, 34-13.
The Bulldogs scored seven in the fourth period, with Cook getting a three-point basket, while Redmon and Antoniak each came away with a two-pointer. Defeated added four more complimentary points to the board, taking a 38-20 victory.
Cook was one for one on free throw, while Redmon was zero for two.
On Jan. 15, the Bulldogs were on the road at Tuckers Crossroads for their final game of the season. The game would be a struggle for DWS.
Redmon scored a three-pointer in the first period, accounting for the only points of the quarter for the Bulldogs. TXR came away with seven points and the lead.
TXR continued their scoring drive in the second period, scoring 12 points and holding DeKalb to zero. TXR held a 19-3 lead at halftime.
The Bulldogs finally got into the game in the third period, scoring 13 points. Redmon scored a two-pointer and pair of three-point baskets, while Cook scored a three and two-pointer. TXR stayed with the Bulldogs, scoring 12 of their own. TXR was up, 30-16.
The Bulldogs only scored four in the final period, with Redmon getting a two-point basket and a couple of free throws. TXR sealed their victory with 19 points, taking a 49-20 win.
Redmon was two for two on free throws.
