





The DeKalb West School started their basketball season last Saturday, hosting Tucker’s Crossroads during the Best of the West games.
The Lady Bulldogs started things off with an impressive effort. Millie Barton came away with a pair of two-point baskets in the first quarter, while Sophie Desimone had one. Lilly Purnell had a three-point shot for the Lady Hornets.
Jordyn Agee had a three pointer for the Lady Bulldogs in the second period, while the Lady Hornets were held scoreless.
Agee added another three-pointer in the third period, while McKenna Miller and Desimone each had a two-point shot. Kloe Kamm had a pair of free throw points, while Kailynn Templeton had a two-pointer for the Lady Hornets.
The Lady Bulldogs sealed up the win in the fourth period, with Autumn Crook getting a two-point basket, while Barton had a couple of free throws, and Desimone had one. Templeton had a two-point shot for Tucker’s Crossroads.
The Lady Bulldogs came away with the 21-9 victory. The junior varsity team also claimed a win, taking the Lady Hornets 28-22.
The Bulldogs also had a good day, coming away with a victory.
Conner Talley and Ethan Brown each had a two-point basket in the first period, while the Hornets took the early lead with three-pointers by Judd Wright and Blake Waldorf, and a free throw by Urijah Dodge.
Nick Murphy had a three-point shot for the Bulldogs in the second period, with Brown and Chase Young each getting a two-pointer. Waldorf had a two-point basket for the Hornets, while Houston Garrett had a two-pointer and a pair of free throws. The Hornets were up 13-12 at the half.
Talley came away with a three and two-point shot in the third period, with Brown getting another two-pointer of his own. The Hornets were held to six points, with Wright and Dodge getting a three-point shot. The score was tied 19-19.
Talley added another two and three-pointer in the fourth period, while Murphy and Brown each added another two-pointer. Defensively the Bulldogs came out strong, holding the Hornets scoreless, and taking the 28-19 win.
The junior varsity team also came away with a victory, winning 19-12.
