The DeKalb West School Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were in New Middleton last week where both teams came away with big wins. The games were played on Nov. 18, and saw both teams outscore their opponent two to one.
The Lady Bulldogs took to the court first, and both teams matched scores in the first period, 6-6. Shelby Clayborn came away with two two-pointers in the quarter.
DWS pulled away in the second period, scoring eight points and allowing New Middleton only two points. Clayborn and Lydia Brown each had two two-point shots before the half ended. The Lady Bulldogs were up, 14-8.
DeKalb increased their lead in the third quarter, getting ten points. Savannah Belcher had a two-pointer, while Brown and Addison Oakley each had two two-pointers, New Middleton only scored four points and DWS was up, 24-12.
The Lady Bulldogs sealed the deal in the fourth, coming away with eight points to New Middleton’s five. Brown had two two-pointers, while Oakley had one. The Lady Bulldogs took an impressive win, 32-17.
Oakley went three for four on free throws, with Clayborn going one for two.
The boy’s team also had a big win that same evening, blowing out New Middleton and continuing their winning streak.
The Bulldogs came away with 16 points in the first quarter, with Jacob Frazier getting a three-pointer and Jessie Smith coming away with two two-point shots. Ethan Martin, Paxton Butler, and Elijah Foutch each had a two-pointer. DWS took the lead, 16-2.
DeKalb could only get four points in the second period, while New Middleton scored six. Butler and Clayton Crook each had two-point shots. The Bulldogs kept the lead at the half, 20-8.
New Middleton only scored two points in the third quarter, while DWS scored eight. Martin, Butler, Frazier, and Smith each had two-point shots in the period. The Bulldogs’ lead increased, 28-10.
The Bulldogs would score another 10 points to finish the game. Travis Checchi had a two-point shot, while Dallas Cook had two. DWS took the big win, 38-12.
Damien Dishman went three for four on free throws, while Checchi went two for two. Martin and Smith each went zero for one.
