On Nov. 3, the Lady Bulldogs were on the road, traveling to New Middleton, where they would face a close match.
DWS scored four points in the first period, with a pair of two-pointers by Addison Oakley. New Middleton had five points and a narrow lead.
The Lady Bulldogs took a big leap in points in the second period, scoring 15. Oakley had three two-point shots, while Lydia Brown had four. New Middleton was held to only three points, giving DeKalb West a 19-8 lead going into the half.
Oakley added another pair of two-pointers in the third period, while Brown had a two-pointer of her own. New Middleton scored only four points, giving DWS a 25-12 lead.
Alley Beth Cook scored the only two points for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth period, while New Middleton made things exciting. They would score 12 points, but fall three points shy at the end. DWS took the 27-24 victory.
Brown was one for two on free throws, while Oakley was zero for two.
On Nov. 4 the Lady Bulldogs were at home, where they hosted a team from Woodbury. The game would stay close through three periods, then things would fall apart for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth.
DWS scored six points in the opening period, with a pair of two-pointers by Brown, and a two-point shot by Oakley. Woodbury scored 10 points and took the early lead.
The Lady Bulldogs added 11 points in the second period, with three two-point shots by Brown, a three-pointer by Oakley, and a two-point basket by Shelby Clayborn. Woodbury was held to only seven points, tying the game 17 all at halftime.
Oakley, Brown, and Kendra Whitehead each had a two-point shot in the third period. Smith County on the other hand, again pulled away with 11 points. Smith County had a 28-23 lead going into the fourth.
DWS only scored four points in the fourth, with Oakley and Brown each getting a two-pointer. Smith County turned it up, taking 12 points, and getting the 40-27 win.
On Nov. 6, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Defeated, where they faced a tough loss.
The Lady Bulldogs were held scoreless through the first three periods, while Defeated put up seven in the first, 17 in the second, and seven more in the third.
DWS finally got on the board in the fourth period with a couple of two-point shots by Brown. Defeated only added nails to the coffin, ending the game with a 36-4 shellacking.
Brown was zero for three on free throws, while Whitehead was zero for two.
On Nov. 8, the Lady Bulldogs were at the Forks River Tournament where they faced off with Smith County. The team found the competition tough, and lost the lead early in the game.
DWS scored eight points in the first period, including a couple of two-point baskets by Oakley. Smith County came away with 14 points and a sizable lead.
The Lady Bulldogs only scored one point in the second period, coming from the free throw line. Smith County continued to add to the scoreboard, getting seven more points and taking a 21-9 lead at the end of the half.
Free throws accounted for four of the six points for the Lady Bulldogs in the third period, while Oakley added another two-point shot. Smith County added another 16, with a 37-15 lead going into the fourth.
Brown had a couple of two-pointers in the fourth, with the rest of DeKalb West’s 12 points coming from the free throw line. It was not enough, with Smith County coming away with a 45-27 victory.
Oakley was seven for 17 on free throws, while Brown was eight for 11.
