After some delays and rearranging of their schedule, the DeKalb West School basketball teams were back in action last week, taking on some tough teams from Watertown. With the DWS teams having been sidelined from play and practices for two weeks due to Covid-19, it would be a rough night for both teams.

On Monday, Dec. 7, DeKalb West was at home with the home crowd looking on. The Lady Bulldogs took the court first, and only scored one point in the first quarter, off of a free throw by Jordyn Agee. Watertown came out big, scoring 13 points.

Abby Jo Crook had a two-point basket for the Lady Bulldogs in the second quarter, with Emily Young and Agee each getting a free throw point. But Watertown continued pouring it on, scoring nine points and taking a 22-5 halftime lead.

Again, it was Agee that scored the Lady Bulldogs lone point in the third quarter, while Watertown put 14 more points on the board. Watertown was up, 36-6.

Lauren Fry had a two-pointer for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth quarter. It was far from enough, with Watertown padding their score with 10 more points. Watertown took the 46-8 win.

It wouldn't be any better in the boys' game. Conner Talley scored the only points for the Bulldogs in the first quarter, a two-point basket. Watertown came out putting 11 points on the board, and taking a big lead.

Grant Buterbaugh and Tyler Jackson each had a two-pointer for the Bulldogs in the second quarter, but Watertown added 15 more points to the scoreboard. Watertown was up 26-6 at halftime.

Jackson added another two-pointer in the third quarter, but that would be all the points the Bulldogs would see. Watertown piled on another 16 points, taking a 42-8 lead.

Again, it was Jackson in the fourth quarter, putting up a pair of two-point baskets, but Watertown sealed their victory with four points of their own. They would take the 46-12 victory.
