The annual DeKalb County Fair 5K and Fun Run will be held on July 16. This year the run will be benefit for Run Down to bring awareness to Down Syndrome.

Registration will begin at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Alexandria. The Run will start at 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is available by contacting Matt Boss at 615-464-8627. Pre-registration guarantees a DeKalb County Fair 5K T-Shirt.

The entry fee is $20 for youth and $25 for adults. Parking will be available behind the fair office.

Jordan Wilkins of Smithville took the overall top spot in last year’s DeKalb County Fair 5K with a time of 24:15. The win marked the second consecutive year that Wilkins has come out on top in the contest.

Carly Vance of Smithville came across the finish line in second place overall with a time of 26:41, and Kelly Pyburn of Alexandria took third place with a time of 27:01.

Connor Vance was the first-place winner in the Fun Run with a time of 5:34, while Jordon Agee finished second with a time of 9:20.
