Fair to kick off with 5K
The Bullwhip Rodeo
The Bullwhip Rodeo comes to the fair on Monday night.

 

The DeKalb County Fair will kick off on Saturday, July 15 with the annual DeKalb County Fair 5K and Fun Run.

 

Registration begins at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds. Pre-registration is available by contacting Matt Boss at 615-464-8627. The entry fee is $20/youth $25/adult. The race will start at 7 p.m., and will be run this year as a fund raiser for the American Legion, a non-profit organization in DeKalb County, in support of veterans.

 

Josh Miller of Smithville won last year’s race, running the course in 22:18. Ethan Trapp took first place in the fun run with a time of 10:03.

 

Then, on Monday, July 17, The Bullwhip Rodeo will come to the T.C. McMillen Arena at 7:30 p.m., with a Cattle Show at the grandstand at 6 p.m. For more information on the Bullwhip Rodeo, contact James at 931-397-1380.

 

Antique tractors will grace the T.C. McMillen Arena at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A Corn Hole Tournament will be held at the grandstand on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as well.

 

A kiddie tractor pull will be held at the grandstands at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. ATV and motorcycle racing will fire off at the T. C. McMillen Arena at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

An ATV/Mini-Rod/Outlaw Pull will take place at T.C. McMillen Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday. The contest is open to all ATV’s, with a Stock Class, and a Modified Class.

 

The Super Truck and Tractor Pull will hit the arena on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. For more info on the ATV pull or the truck and tractor pull, contact Jeff Reynolds at 615-529-4894.
