Fall High School Sports Teams Read to Students

Former DeKalb West School students returned to their alma mater Friday, Dec. 2, to read to elementary age students. Cross Country, Golf and Fishing team members cracked opened books to share stories to individual classrooms in PreK-5th grades.

“I absolutely loved seeing various sports teams represented today,” School Librarian Amanda Mullinax said. “It’s important for our students to know there’s a wide array of sporting options awaiting them as they grow older.”

D.C.H.S. athletes also read to students at Smithville Elementary and Northside Elementary School. The reading program has become an annual event each spring during Read Across America week.
