It’s time to lace them up for the 21st annual Fiddler 5K and one-mile run to be held on July 6, the weekend of the Smithville Fiddler’s Jamboree.
The race will begin promptly at 7 a.m.,
July 6, rain or shine, on Church Street in downtown Smithville and will run its
normal course down toward the golf course and then back downtown. The one-mile
portion will remain downtown. Check-in will begin at 6 a.m. at Love-Cantrell
and those entering that day are urged to bring a completed form to save time.
Those who pre-register may check-in at 6:15 a.m. There will be an early bird
packet pick up on June 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Life
Enrichment Center. Pre-registered participants receive an event t-shirt and all
participants get refreshments and a chance to win door prizes. Strollers will
be welcome so long as pushers line up in the back. There will be no pets
allowed and the course will be open for one hour.
Those wanting to register online may do so by going to itsyourrace.com. The online porthole will be open until noon on July 3. You can also go to www.fiddler5k.com and print out an entry and mail it with payment to P.O. Box 750, Smithville, TN 37166. Mailed pre-registrations must be received before July 1.
There is other advantages to pre-registration, namely in the price as early bird pre-race is just $20 for adults and $15 for those under 18. Pre-race, meaning those who pre-register before July 3 at noon will pay $25 and $20 for juniors. Race day registration will cost $30 and $25 for juniors and race day registrations are not guaranteed a t-shirt. Those having questions may call 615-597-7370.
The event is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County and is a qualifying race for the Cumberland Medal Series which includes several 5K events in the area over the summer.
