Smithville native Austin Garrett got his third career victory and helped Cumberland land a team title at the Bluegrass Fall Classic/Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament on Oct. 1 at Cherry Blossom Golf & Country Club in Georgetown, Ky. Garrett had a second-round 66, and Ryan Botts took a second consecutive round of 70 to claim the title.
Garrett was six under par on the par-72, Cherry Blossom course. He also won at the RedHawk Classic in 2012 and in a dual match against Bryan College in his freshman season. Botts, a sophomore from Lebanon, carded a second straight round of two-under, finishing in third place.
Cumberland won by three shots as a team over Lindsey Wilson and the University of the Cumberlands, with the Mid-South Conference school defeating the Cumberlands for the first time in a tournament in three years.
