Insta Cash earns season, ADA claims tournament

The DeKalb Youth Baseball Minor League teams wrapped up season play and began tournaments last week.

 

Janney and Associates met Insta Cash on May 27, taking a 14-6 loss. Insta Cash pitchers gave up 20 walks in the game.

 

J and A scored six runs on four hits. Mason Winter, Jackson Arnold, Cameron Caballero, and Hunter Cantrell put in a single each for the losing team.

 

IC scored 14 runs on four hits. Jacob McCowan smacked a double, while Kholton Melton, Brayden Summers, and Tyler Jackson all singled in the game.

 

In the second game of the evening, Southern Landscape Supply fell to A Degree Above in a 5-4 game.

 

SLS recorded four runs on three hits. Alex Antoniak Blasted an inside-the-park home run, Ian Colwell hit a triple, and Peyton Saylors added a single.

 

ADA won the game with five runs on four hits. Briz Trapp and Marquez Chalfant hit doubles in the contest, while Dalton Williams and Adan Ramirez put in a single each.

 

As tournament action began, Insta Cash and Janney and Associates fought it out in the first game, with IC pulling out a 7-6 win in the bottom of the fifth inning.

 

J and A scored six runs on three hits, all singles from Mason Winter, Cameron Caballero and Jordon Parker. IC scored seven runs on three hits. Jacob McCowan hit a triple and a single, and Landon Cripps put a triple on the books.

 

With J and A out of the single-elimination tourney, A Degree Above and Southern Landscape Supply faced off in the second game of the tournament, with SLS falling to ADA in an 11-3 contest.

 

ADA held SLS to three runs on one hit, a triple from Alex Antoniak. ADA scored eleven runs on nine hits. Marquez Chalfant blasted a home run and a single, Martin Willingham and Stephen Banks hit a double each, Dalton Williams peppered two one-baggers, and James brown, Adan Ramirez and Colton Slager put in singles.

 

The win over SLS set ADA up to face Insta Cash in the championship game.

 

A Degree Above turned the thermostat up on IC, handing them a 15-0 pounding to win the championship.

 

While IC put two hits on the books, singles by Landon Cripps and Kholton Melton, ADA scored 15 runs on seven hits. Briz Trapp hit a double and two singles in the game, Marquez Chalfant and Dalton Williams put in a double each, and Adan Ramirez added two singles to help with the win.

 

While Insta Cash are the season champions, A Degree Above claimed the tournament championships. An awards show will take place on June 13. More on this in next week’s Smithville Review.
