In recognition of National Boating Safety Week, and opening Memorial Day weekend, J'BEEz Water Craft/CANOE the Caney partnered up with US CG Auxiliarist Program Visitor, Joseph Trapp, who is the Vice Flotilla Commander for Flotilla 11-06 Detachment in Nashville, TN, and staff officer from the US COAST GUARD AUXILIARY PV program.
"I worked with J'BEEz Water Craft/CANOE the Caney in past years in many different areas,” Trapp said. “My main job in my unit is promoting recreational boating safety missions in assisting the US Coast Guard Recreational Water and Boat Safety Program for support missions. Basically, in aspects of RBS missions, I help teach Water Boating Safety classes, organize and do PA events, and as a Program Visitor. I visit marinas, dams, marine dealer, and state parks and become partners in promoting safety.”
“I create a display of literature (pamphlets) for the public on safety at each site, displaying pamphlets on a boaters guide to federal requirements for boaters, TWRA Booklets on current laws on boating, US Aide to Navigation, beware boat propellers- A hidden danger, you’re in command- boat responsibility, America's Water way watch, which life jacket is for you, your VHF-DSC Marine Radio, 10 tons and no brakes, be smart be safe and have fun for paddle Craft sports which are pamphlets available for customers at sites,” Trapp continued.
“We also have a close partnership with TWRA and the Army Corps of Engineers, promoting RBS project s and missions. We work closely with TWRA State Boating Safety Coordinator Betty Woods together to event at Boat shows, recently at The Tennessee Fishing and Boat Expo in February 2022 hosted in Wilson County.”
“It was a great turn out on Monday, May 30, 2022 at J'BEEz Water Craft/CANOE the Caney and I was humbled to be welcomed to the store and meet a top notch crew,” Trapp explained. “This event ‘Wear Your Life Jacket Day’ is in appreciation of National Boating Safety Week.”
“I basically worked with management and crew, and was on site while management gave a safety briefing on life jackets laws, TWRA and current laws, and encouraging patrons to be safe while having fun. We identified famous history for patrons while sailing down the Caney Fork River, and wild life on the river to look out for.”
“I also answered patrons questions on the USCG approved 5 types of lifejacket, types for age groups, and help assist crew in distributing life jackets. The Mangement Team/ Crew at J'BEEz Water Craft/ CANOE the Caney, ran a top of the line program offering many different programs and packages for the customers.”

From experience, and through professional relationships, they have always put customer’s safety as a top priority. We are thankful for Jason Carver, President, and Billie Davis, Vice president, and their top notch crew, for providing things do for people who come to Center Hill Lake to take part in while on vacation.”
Trapp has worked several years now in eastern part of Tennessee to work with authorities to establish a USCG and auxiliary presence working with TWRA and Army Corps of Engineers prompting Recreation Boating Safety. “I'm proud to be able to work close to home and remotely,” Trapp said.
Trapp recently returned from a year and four months deployment last July of 2021 on the Federal and State COVID Task Force on national humanitarian mission through the US Department of Homeland Security and FEMA as a volunteer assisting state and federal team help disperse federal aid quickly to the people and families to put food on the table, delivering medical equipment, food, assisting the local public, helping Tennesseans with claims.
He also worked with US CG Auxiliarist and US CG active duty on certain needs through DHS and FEMA. Trapp also assisted victims with FEMA claims in respect to tornado relief efforts and helped raised money with organizations for victims effected by Tornado March 2020.
Trapp is part at a DHS Surge Force under USCG reserve resources and are activated as civilians to deploy during hurricanes, National disasters, and pandemic working with locate, state, and federal agencies to help provide relief, recovery during disasters. He is OIC of training for Sector 7 Detachment.
