Tiger baseball pitcher Steven Jennings has been listed in the top 50 MLB draft picks, according to MLB.com.
While Jennings has already signed to play college baseball at Ole Miss, major league scouts with radar guns have been stalking him in droves this season. He is ranked number 47 in the MLB’s top 100 draft prospects. The draft is set for June 12-14.
Jennings tore his ACL playing football this year, ending his career as Tiger quarterback early in the season, but has recovered fully, and is apparently impressing pro ball scouts. With a fastball that reaches 95 MPH, Jennings is predicted to go as high as the second round of the draft.
Jennings pitched 44.2 innings in 10 games before the regular season ended for the Tigers, allowing only 12 hits and ten runs all year. He struck out 85 batters this season, with an ERA of .470.
