Five Tiger baseball players have garnered district honors in 2017.
Standout hurler Steven Jennings was named District 8-AA Pitcher of the Year for DeKalb. Tigers Lee Randolph, John Maynard, Jacob Self and Hunter Jennings were named to the All-District Team.
Steven Jennings, a senior, pitched 51.2 innings for DeKalb this season, registering 99 strikeouts with a .542 ERA. He is projected to be a second round major league draft pick by MLB.com.
Senior Jacob Self, the Tiger’s catcher, batted .284 and maintained a .979 average in the field.
Junior John Maynard had an .854 fielding average, pitched 52 innings with 82 strikeouts, and maintained a .299 batting average this season.
Hunter Jennings, a junior, spent 41.1 innings on the mound in 2017, striking out 27 batters.
Randolph, a junior and first baseman, ended the season with a .323 batting average, and a .947 fielding average.
The Tigers finished the season 21-9-1
