DeKalb Junior Pro basketball wrapped up their season last week, with the Big Boys Division ending with a battle for the championship.
On Feb. 24, Southern Landscape Supply faced Glenda Davis, CPA, in the first round of semi-finals.
For Southern Landscape, Jaden Young scored 12 points, while Jordan Young came away with seven. Luke Oliver scored three points, with Marquis Bass and Isaac Robinson each getting two.
John Maynard scored 12 points for Glenda Davis, with Lance Davis getting six. Ealy Gassaway and Conner Vaughn each had four points, while Ben Snipes and Justin Washer each got two.
Glenda Davis came away with the win, 30-26.
That same day, H&R Block took on Ramsey Ruckus.
Isaac Cross had four points for H&R, while Paxton Banks and Dillion Knowles each got two, and Josef Osment scored one.
Ramsey’s Michael Elswick had 12 points in the game, while Isaac Smith and Derek Young each had four. Ethan Jenkins, Luke Jenkins, and Jake Ramsey each scored two.
Ramsey Ruckus got the win, 26-9.
On Mar. 1, teams faced off for another round of games, leading to the championship later that evening.
Ramsey Ruckus battled Creative Styles in a match that ended in a one-point victory.
For Ramsey, Michael Elswick scored eight, while Isaac Smith got five, and Derek Young seven.
Nick May scored 12 points for Creative Styles, with Omar Aldino getting five, and Isaac Walker four.
Creative Styles got the narrow victory, 21-20, and moved on to the championship game.
Glenda Davis, CPA, went up against Bates Apparel that same day, in what would be another hard-fought battle.
John Maynard was the big scorer for Glenda Davis, coming away with 12 points. Conner Vaughn scored nine points, while Lance Davis got seven, and Parker Gassaway one.
For Bates, Brayden Howard came away with 15 points, while Samuel Claiborne had seven. Aiden Patterson scored six, Ethan Cantrell five, and Josh Carlton two points.
Bates Apparel took the win, 35-29, and moved to face Creative Styles for the championship.
In the championship game that evening, the two best teams in the division took to the court. Creative Styles faced off with Bates Apparel for the final game of the season.
For Creative Styles, Dosson Medlin came away with nine points, while Nick May scored five. Omar Aldino got four points, and Isaac Walker had three.
Hunter Fann got 12 points for Bates, while Brayden Howard had six, and Ethan Cantrell five. Josh Carlton scored three points, while Samuel Claiborne and Aiden Patterson each had two.
Bates Apparel got the victory and the championship, 30-21.
In the Middle Boys Division, Optimus Pest Solutions played The Heat on Feb. 24, in the semi-finals, while Kilgores took on Ellis Electric Shock the following day, to see who would play for the championship.
In the first game, Jacob Johnson scored 11 points for Optimus, while Brayden Given had four. Matthew Keaton, Evan Sprague, and Jacob Winchester each scored two points in the game.
For The Heat, Isaac Knowles scored seven, while Antwon McCoy had four, and Brayden Tubbs one.
Optimus took the win, 21-12, moving on to the championship.
In the second game, Desmond Nokes scored six points for Kilgores, while Conner Crabtree scored four.
J.J. Pack and Avery South each scored two, and Gage Trapp scored one.
For Ellis Electric, Will Pursell came away with five points, while Axel Aldino and Levi Driver each had four. Garrett Hayes scored three, and Matt Rowe had two.
Ellis Electric took the close victory, 18-15.

Ellis Electric Shock came away with the championship win, 13-9.
In the Little Boys Division, Davis Auto Body took on Trapp & Sons Painting for the championship game. Davis Auto had earned a spot in the championship by beating Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, 18-7, on Feb. 24. Trapp & Sons moved to the championship game after they gained a victory over Florence & White Ford, 17-9.
On Mar. 1, the teams faced off to see who was the best team in the division.
For Davis Auto, Ryan Thompson scored nine points, while Mason Winter had five. Briz Trapp scored four, with Jase Bain and Holden Trapp each getting two.
Elisha Ramos scored 14 points for Trapp & Sons, with Hunter Cantrell getting five. Conner Close scored four, and Jacob Hendrix three.
Trapp & Sons Painting came away with the win and championship, 26-22.
Junior Pro boys fight for championship
