Getting their kicks every Saturday at Northside, the Center Hill Soccer League is gearing up for its championship run, the showdowns planned for the weekend after the Jamboree.

“We are a co-ed league and any child can play,” said Assistant Director Jason Miller of the recreational league that plays on the soccer fields next to Northside School on Saturdays during the summer. “We have leagues for ages beginning as young as two years old.”

The leagues include U-4 (under 4), U-6, U-9, U-12 and U-16. The league presently has 181 participants.

“We’ve been playing all during the month of June,” said League Director April Coronado, noting the league has been going on for about 18 years, although it was reorganized and changed its name to the Center Hill Soccer League this year.

Coronado noted, weather permitting, the final regular session games will be played June 30 to finalizing the seeding for the championship games that will be held after the league takes a break during Jamboree week.

While the season is drawing to an end for the juniors, it is just beginning for adults as Miller said signups are ongoing for the adult league which will begin after the youth league is finished. The league will be open to anyone of high school age or older. There will be signups going on during the June 30 games at the field for anyone who would like to take part in the adult league.

Miller said the league’s board of directors will decide if there will be fall or spring versions of the youth league.
