Kenzie France signs with Cumberland
Home run Queen signs with Cumberland

DeKalb County’s all-time homerun queen will be taking her talents to Lebanon this fall as she inked her intent this past week to play college softball for Cumberland University.

Kenzie France signed her letter of intent with Cumberland as friends, family, teammates and coaches looked on at DeKalb County High School where she is in her senior year. Kenzie is presently playing basketball for the Lady Tigers as she readies for her final season as a Tigerette this spring. She will graduate in May.

France rewrote the record book during her first three years as a Tigerette, shattering the all-time homerun record. She began her run as a prolific power hitter her freshman year when she hit five dingers before going long on 15 shots her sophomore year. Last year, during her junior year, she set the all-time career homerun record after hitting eight homers. She also batted in 60 runs last season.

While looking forward to her career at Cumberland, Coach Danny Fish says France still has work to do as a Tigerette and expects her to add to her record homers this season when she returns to the Smithville diamond for her farewell performance.

DCHS Tigerette Softball Senior Kenzie France signed Wednesday to play collegiate softball for Cumberland University in Lebanon next year. She will graduate from DCHS in May. Kenzie is pictured here with Cumberland University Head Softball Coach Heather Stanfill and DCHS Tigerette Coach Danny Fish. As s sophomore she hit 15 homeruns and last year as a junior she had 60 RBIs. Everybody pitched around her. She set the all time homerun record here for her career at the end of last year. I have to check but I believe she had five homeruns as a freshman, 15 as a sophomore and 8 last year.
