Minor League Machine-pitch games took place on Saturday afternoon at the Little League field.
The first game was played by Kilgore’s Restaurant and the Tennessee Credit Redsox. The Redsox dominated Kilgore’s easily defeating them 9-1.
In the first inning, Kilgore’s came out the early driving in a run in the opening minutes of the game. The Redsox defense would settle down and end the inning halting Kilgore’s progress.
Though the Redsox gave up one run prior to their at bat, they fired back scoring three runs of their own and took the lead.
In the second inning, Kilgore’s squad was shut out and did not manage a hit. The Redsox offense dipped slightly, but still managed to drive in a run and increase their lead to three runs.
The Redsox continued to shut out Kilgore’s as again in the third they were held scoreless. While the defense was holding strong, the offense pounded Kilgore’s for another three runs.
The Redsox would not allow their opponents to score or even muster up a hit and ended the game in the bottom of the fourth with two more runs to add to their total and end the game with a victory.
The second machine-pitch game of the evening was between the team of Love Cantrell and the A-Plus team. Love Cantrell came away with the 5-0 win as they shut out their opponent.
In the first inning, neither team would find a hit and both went to the second with little to no momentum.
In the second inning, Love Cantrell’s team drove in two runs thanks in part to Josh Moon’s single to right field. Errors were the cause of the runs to score.
After the second inning, each team unable to get a hit. Players were hindered with errors. It was zeros across the board for each team until the top of the sixth when Love Cantrell found some rhythm and tacked on three runs.
A-Plus would not make the comeback they hoped for and ended the inning striking out and the game was over.
