Lace up for third annual DeKalb County Fair 5K/Fun Run

The third annual DeKalb County Fair 5K and One-Mile Fun Run will kick off the fair on July 18.

 

Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the run starting at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $25 for adults $20 for youth.

 

Runners will line up on Main Street in Alexandria to tackle a course that will take them to the Wilson County line and back to downtown. Alexandria Police and Fire, and DeKalb EMS will be on hand, blocking off roadways and making sure everyone is safe for the event.

 

Pre-registration forms are available at the Smithville Review, and pre-registration will guarantee a DeKalb County Fair 5K t-shirt. Proceeds go to the Paisley Foundation.

 

Last year’s overall winner was Jordan Wilkins with a time of 21:41. Hannah Whited came in second with a time of 22:08, and Lonnie Swope came in third with a time of 23:40. In the One-mile Fun Run, Jordan Crook came in first place with a time of 8:51. Owen Snipes was second with a 9:00 run, and Kaden Trapp was third with a time of 10:18.

Meanwhile, the Rodeo returns to T.C. McMillen Arena on Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m.

 

Mounted shooting, bull riding, trick riding, barrel racing and team roping will be included in the competitions. Call James at 931-397-1380 for more information.

 

Go-Kart Racing will hit the arena on the hill on Tuesday, July 21, with registration at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

 

Six "yard kart" classes, along with four-stroke competition classes, will be featured. Entry fee for competition classes is $25. First place wins $50 and second takes home $25. All yard Kart participants will receive a trophy.

 

ATV and motorcycle flat-track racing will be held Wednesday, July 22.

 

There will be a total 23 divisions, with an entry fee of $10 for class 1-2, $20 for classes 3-23, and $25 for classes 24 and 25. The event will pay $25 for first place and $15 for second in classes 3-8, $20 for first and $25 for second in classes 9-23. Trophies will be awarded in class 1 and 2.

 

On Thursday, July 23, the Omega Force Strength Team will perform at the arena at 7 p.m.

 

An ATV pull will take place on Friday, July 24, at 7 p.m.

 

Contest is open to all ATVs, which must be entered by the class of its engine size in CCs. There will be stock, modified mini rod and outlaw classes

The Super Truck and Tractor Pull will; take place Saturday, July 25. There will be 10 categories for trucks and tractors, with weigh in at 5 p.m. The pull will begin at 7 p.m., and MTPA rules will apply.
