The DWS Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs split the final two games of the season with Cannon County on Jan. 28. The Bulldogs took a 34-19 win, while the Lady Bulldogs fell in a 34-15 game.
The Bulldogs burst out of the locker room and outscored Woodbury 12-2 in the first period, and backed it up with a 8-3 second, giving them a 20-5 lead at the half. DeKalb remained in charge in the third, and the final period began with DWS leading 27-14.
DeKalb scored seven more points in the fourth, while Woodbury managed five, and the Bulldogs cruised to a victory.
Dallas Cook led the Bulldog offense with 14 points. Noah Roberts put in five, and Cody Antoniak put in four. Brayden Antoniak, Braeden Jett, Garrett Hayes and Trenton Shores added two points, and Jathan Willoughby added one.
The Lady Bulldogs were not so lucky, dropping a 34-15 to the team from Woodbury.
Woodbury outscored DeKalb 8-2 in the first and continued to pull away, scoring 14 points in the second while holding the Lady Bulldogs to three. DeKalb trailed 22-5 at halftime.
DeKalb’s deficit increased in the third, and Woodbury took a 31-7 lead into the final period. While The Lady Bulldogs came out on top of an 8-3 fourth period, it was nowhere near enough to make up lost ground, and Woodbury took the win.
Summer Crook led the DeKalb offense with eight points, and Gracie Griffin was close behind with seven.
