Lady Bulldogs Claim Win

The DeKalb West School basketball teams had a short week last week, playing one set of games on Monday, with another scheduled game against Friendship cancelled.

On Monday, December 5, DWS was on the road, traveling to Carroll Oakland for some tough competition. The girls would win the night, while the boys would have a rough go.

The Lady Bulldogs scored eight points in the first period, while holding Carroll Oakland scoreless. Camille Barton would come away with four two-point baskets.

DWS would do even better in the second period, coming away with 13 points. Barton would hit on another three two-point shots, while Hannah Brown would have a three-point basket. Autumn Crook would have a two-pointer and a pair of free throws. Carroll Oakland would get on the board with seven points, but the Lady Bulldogs were up 21-7 at the half.

It would be Barton again for the Lady Bulldogs in the third, with a pair of two-pointers and a free throw, while Brown sank a two-point shot. Sophie Desimone and Crook would each have a free throw point. Carroll Oakland scored eight, but DWS was up 30-15.

The Lady Bulldogs would seal up the game with six more points. Brown would sink a three-point basket, while Desimone hit a two-pointer. Crook added a free throw. Carroll Oakland only scored seven, giving DWS the 36-22 win.

It would be a tougher game for the boys. Chase Young sank a two-point shot and a free throw for the Bulldogs in the first period, while Drew Cook had a two-point basket of his own. Carroll Oakland scored 11, taking the early lead.

The Bulldogs came away with 11 points in the second period. Ben Barton had a couple of two-pointers and a pair of free throw points, while Young had two two-point shots. Ben Driver added a free throw point. Carroll Oakland would get eight points, holding a 19-16 halftime lead.

Young scored three for the Bulldogs in the third period, off of a two-pointer and a free throw, while Barton and Cook each had a two-pointer. Carroll Oakland poured it on with 17 points, taking a 36-23 lead.

The Bulldogs would only come up with five more points in the game. Driver would get a two-pointer, while Young would claim two free throw points. Carson Davis would also have a free throw. Carroll Oakland would add seven more points and claim the 43-29 win.
