Lady Bulldogs Win One

The DeKalb West Lady Bulldogs were in action last week, going on the road for three games.

On Monday, November 13, the ladies traveled to Defeated where they would defeat their opponent. The Lady Bulldogs scored 11 points in the first period, with Sophie Desimone sinking a two and three-point basket, while Autumn Crook hit a two-pointer and a pair of free throws. Kaylee Womack added a two-point shot. Defeated would be held to four points.

The Lady Bulldogs would put seven more points on the board in the second, with Camille Barton sinking a couple of two-point shots and a free throw, while Crook had another two-point basket. Defeated scored eight, giving DWS the 18-12 lead at halftime.

DWS was held to just two points in the third period, with Barton hitting a two-point layup. Defeated cored four, with the Lady Bulldogs hanging on to a 20-16 lead.

Barton added a pair of two-pointers and a free throw to the board for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth, while Womack had a two-pointer and a free throw, and Kylie Pierce a two-point shot. Defeated was held to two points, giving DeKalb the 30-18 victory.

The following day, the girls would have a tougher game as they traveled to Caroll-Oakland.

The ladies scored nine points in the first period, with Desimone sinking a couple of two-pointers and a free throw, while Crook and Katelyn Fry each had a two-point basket. Caroll-Oakland also scored nine points.

The Lady Bulldogs scored five points in the second period, with a two-pointer and free throw by Desimone, and a two-point shot by Zoey Skeen. Caroll-Oakland scored 10, taking the 19-14 halftime lead.

DWS only manage five more points in the third, with a three-pointer by Desimone and a two-pointer by Skeen. Caroll-Oakland pushed on with 11 points, taking the 30-19 lead.

Desimone hit a two-pointer for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth, while Crook hot a three-point shot. Caroll-Oakland finished with seven points, taking the 37-24 win.

Things would be any better the following Friday as the team traveled to Carthage to face off against Smith County.

Barton would score the only two-pointer for the Lady Bulldogs in the first period, while Smith jumped out with 13 points.

It was Barton again with two in the second, while Smith County added six more points. The Owls were up 19-4 at the half.

The Lady Bulldogs came away with seven points in the third, with Barton sinking a pair of two-pointers and a free throw, while Crook added a two-point basket. Smith added five, going up 24-11.

DWS ended the game with five more points, a two-pointer and free throw by Barton and a two-point shot by Crook. Smith ended the game with eight points, taking the 32-16 win.
