The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints were beginning to win down their regular season last week, playing a home game against Gordonsville. The girls would come away with a big win.
The Lady Saints scored 10 points in the first period, with Madison Parsley, Joni Robinson, and Macy Hedge each getting a three-point basket, while Julia Curtis scored a free throw point. Gordonsville kept things close, scoring eight points.
DMS only scored three points in the second period, with Hedge getting a couple of free throw points, and Abbi Taylor getting one. Gordonsville scored four points, inching closer to DeKalb’s 13-12 halftime lead.
Curtis came away with a pair of two-pointers and three free throw points in the third period, while Hedge and Sophie Cripps each got a two-point basket. Gordonsville was held to only two points, giving DMS a 24-14 lead.
The Lady Saints scored seven points in the final period, with Hedge getting a three-pointer, and Mya Ruch getting a two-point shot. Curtis and Emme Colwell each got a free throw point. Gordonsville scored five, giving DMS the 31-19 victory.
Curtis was five for seven on free throws, while Robinson was two for two. Colwell was one for three, while Taylor was one for two. Hedge was zero for one.
The Lady Saints will face Rickman at home on Thursday evening for their final regular season game.
