Lady Saint Kennedy Agee pulls an unexpected side-pass to a team-mate while surrounded by Upperman players during last weeks game.

The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints hosted the Upperman Middle School Lady Yellow Jackets on Jan. 7, dropping a 35-28 barnburner.

A first period battle saw the Lady Jackets outpace the Lady Saints 7-2. Kenzi France scored two points for DMS.

Upperman enjoyed a 16-8 lead at the half after scoring nine more points in the second and allowing the Lady Saints to score six. Mya Ruch, Emme Colwell and Kennedy Agee scored two points each for DeKalb in the second period.

At the beginning of the second half Upperman led the game 27-15, but the Lady Saints continued to hang on.

An 11-7 third period in Upperman’s favor did not help, and the Lady Jackets maintained a 27-15 advantage at the beginning of the final period. Curtis was responsible for all seven DMS points in the third.

Curtis and Colwell put in nine points each for DMS, and Colwell went 4-for-4 from the line. France scored six points in the game, hitting three two-pointers. Ruch and Agee added two points each to the DeKalb effort.

The Lady Saints, 15-4 on the season, traveled to Cookeville to face Avery Trace Middle School Tuesday night. Scores for that game were not available at press time.
