The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints basketball team was back on the hardwood last week, on the road at Watertown and then in Sparta later in the week. It would be a tough week for the girls.

At Watertown, on Tuesday, November 14, the Lady Saints only scored one point in the first period, a free throw by Sophie Adcock, while Watertown came away with seven.

Things got better in the second period, with Jordyn Agee hitting a pair of three-point shots for the Lady Saints, while Lola Colwell had one. Adcock added a two-point basket. Unfortunately, Watertown put 22 on the board, taking the 29-12 halftime lead.

The Lady Saints put five on the board in the third, with a three-pointer by Maggie Hendrixson, and a couple of free throws by Agee. Watertown pressed on with 12 points, taking a 41-17 lead.

The game ended like it started for the Lady Saints, with Adcock scoring the one lone free throw. Watertown ended with four points and claimed the 45-18 win.

Things wouldn’t be much better the following Thursday as the girls traveled to Sparta to face White County. Once again, the Lady Saints started the game with just one point on the board, a free throw by Agee. White County barreled ahead with 18 points.

The Lady Saints added six points in the second period, with three-pointers by Agee and Hendrixson. White County kept rolling with 15 more points, taking the 33-7 lead at the half.
