Lady Saints fall to Macon 2-0
Plagued by injuries in second half

The Lady Saints soccer team played host to Macon County Tuesday. In a heated battle, the teams stayed tied until the half when coach Justin Nokes had to go to the bench due to injuries That’s when Macon County found the back-of-the-net twice for the win.Macon’s Lady Tigers took it to the box early, but their shots were weak and the Lady Saints defense did well clearing the ball. Darrah Ramsey was instrumental in the middle on D and Macon didn’t get much inside.DeKalb’s Raven Savage put a nice shot on goal early that almost made it past the keeper and a nice cross by Micah Bogle gave the Lady Saints a second chance at an early score but the Lady Tigers made the save.Going into the half tied 0-0, the Lady Saints were making great intercepts on Macon’s throw-in to change possession but a breakout attack by Lady Tiger Katelyn Austin put them on the board at about the 12-minute mark.Savage had another good attempt in the second half with a solid shot on net, but again Macon’s goalkeeper made the save.DeKalb had to go to the bench after suffering three consecutive injuries which sidelined players temporarily and it was the chance Macon had been waiting for as Austin struck again with the final score.The Lady Saints travelled to Warren County Tuesday, results were not available at press time.
