The Lady Saints took the field for one last time this season and did not disappoint as they celebrated Eighth-grade Night with a 12-0 victory, cruising past the Avery Trace Raiders middle school and keeping their new field unblemished and undefeated.
Eighth-grader Kaylee Caplinger took the mound for the Lady Saints one last time and did not disappoint. The first batter struck out. The next batter would ground out to first base for the easy tag out. The third batter  made contact and drove the ball into open space in left field for a single. Caplinger would end the inning for Avery Trace with a strike out as she had the batter swinging at air.
In the bottom of the first, Tyra Graham led off for the Lady Saints and knocked down a ground ball in the infield good for a single. Alexis Bates then made it to first base on an error, and  Graham made it all the way around to home.
Danni Meadows blasted a ball that went deep to centerfield and nearly missed being a home run, instead winding up as an RBI double. Caplinger sacrificed as she was out at first, advancing Meadows to third. There was an errant throw to third which allowed Meadows to make it to home plate to score. Next up, Kaite Hall flew out into the infield. Alex Foutch dropped down a low chopper into the infield that could not be fielded and made it to first base. Anna Malone walked. Myranda Bailiff singled down the third baseline, loading the bases.
Hanah Panter would then  bring in a run with her single to left field. Graham was walked with the bases loaded, and allowed a run to cross the plate. Bates dropped down a bunt and made it to first on an error from the third base man and also brought in a run. Meadows would end the first inning grounding out to  second base for an easy out.
In the top of the second, the Lady Saints made sure Avery Trace couldn’t manage any offense as three went up and three went down, starting with a strike out from Caplinger. The next two batters that faced Caplinger were both forced into grounding out into the infield, making it a quick inning for the Raiders.
In the bottom of the second, Caplinger led off for the Lady Saints and was hit by the pitch. Hall was next up and the first pitch got away from the catcher and allowed Caplinger to advance to second. The off pitching continued as Caplinger advanced to third  and also took home on a wild pitch as Hall was walked. Foutch was up to hit and the Raider’s pitcher was called for a balk and Hall advanced to second base. Foutch would ground out to second.  Malone flew out to the infield. Bailiff made it to first on an error and also went on to second due to an errant throw. Walker was walked. Graham brought in a run with her single to left field. Bates would fly out, but not before the pitcher had two wild pitches that allowed a run to score.
In the top of the third, Caplinger again struck out the first batter she faced. The next batter singled into the infield. Caplinger would walk her next batter. Following the walk, the next batter reached first on an error, loading the bases. With the bases loaded and a heavy hitter up to the plate, Caplinger came up huge, sitting the batter down as she caught her looking.
In the bottom of the third, Meadows led off with a walk. Caplinger was next to hit but a couple of wild pitches would allow Meadows to make her way to third, and eventually Caplinger also walked. As Caplinger took first, she kept on running, heading for second base. Caplinger was called out as she almost made it, but the Raiders forgot about Meadows on third who came into score. Hall then  flew out to the catcher.  Foutch was walked and Malone would end the inning with a ground out in the infield.
In the top of the fourth, Caplinger yet again struck out the first batter, but walked the next two. The fourth batter would knock down a ground ball into a fielder’s choice and the runner was out at second. The next batter flew out to the third baseman.
In the bottom of the fourth, Bailiff led off with a standing double deep to left field that almost made it over the fence.  Walker would have a sac fly to centerfield, but advanced the runner to third. Graham blasted a line drive to centerfield that was caught for out number two. Bates was up next to bat, but her first pitch was wild, allowing Bailiff to come in to score and the umpire called the game as the mercy rule went into effect.
