The Lady Saints Soccer season is underway under the leadership of six 8th graders for the upcoming 2023 season. The season began on August 5th as the Lady Saints hosted a Preseason Playday where eight different teams across the Upper Cumberland were present. DMS ended the day earning lots of experience and also with two wins and one tie.
DMS opened the season with conference foe, Prescott, on August 8 where the Lady Saints escaped with a 3-2 win. Azul Rueda put two in the back in the net with Hannah Tobitt adding the other.
The Lady Saints hosted Warren County on August 10 in a non-conference game where they fell 6-2. Both goals came from Zuly Beltran.
The following week, the Lady Saints traveled to Cumberland County on August 15 for their first away game of the season. Behind a goal from Hannah Tobitt and Zuly Beltran, the Lady Saints won this one with a final score of 2-0. Goalie Willow Walker held Cumberland scoreless as the Lady Saints began the season 2-0 in the conference.
The JV game was just as exciting as DMS score 2 goals in the final 2 minutes to win 3-2. Three goals from Chenoa Juarez help lead the JV to victory.
Later that week, the Lady Saints played host to powerhouse Algood Middle on Friday, August 18th. Although the Lady Saints fought hard, they fell 4-0.
The Lady Saints currently support a 2-1 Conference record and hope to add to that this Tuesday and Friday as they travel to Avery Trace and Overton Co.
