Lady Saints take win over Watertown

The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints were back on the court after taking a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday. On Dec. 1, the girls were at home, where they faced off with a team they had lost to in double overtime earlier in the season, the Purple Tigers of Watertown.

 

The Lady Saints took the first period with 10 points on the board. Joni Robinson had a pair of three-point baskets, as well as sinking a couple of free throws, while Julia Curtis came away with a two-point shot. Watertown was held to six points.

 

DMS added another 10 points in the second period, with Robinson and Curtis each taking a three-pointer, while Sophie Cripps and Emme Colwell each had a two-pointer. Watertown inched a little closer, taking 11 points. DMS kept the 20-17 lead at halftime.

 

The Lady Saints had 11 points in the third period, with Macy Hedge coming away with three two-point baskets, while Curtis had two. Madison Parsley added to the scoreboard with a free throw. Watertown came out of the third with nine points, giving DMS a 31-26 lead.

 

Offensively, the Lady Saints pulled away with nine points in the fourth, while defensively holding Watertown to only a single free throw. Curtis had two two-point shots, while Parsley and Cripps each had one. Robinson added a free throw, and the Lady Saints took the win, 40-27.

 

Robinson was three for six on free throws, while Parsley was one for two. Curtis was zero for four, while Hedge was zero for one.
