Lady Saints Win Big in Algood

By Chris Tramel

The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints soccer team made team history last week after getting a tough victory against a long-time rival.

The Lady Saints only had one game last week as they traveled to Algood to face the Redskins last Thursday evening. At the beginning of the game, the teams were tied in conference standings.

It would be a low scoring first half with DMS getting the only goal off of a penalty kick by Tatum Young.

In the second half, Young and Katherine Knowles each scored for the Lady Saints, though the Redskins scored two goals of their own.

In the end, the Lady Saints would hold on and claim the 3-2 victory, the first time the team has beat Algood on their home field.

The Lady Saints next travel to Macon County on Tuesday, Sept. 15, then to Prescott on Thursday, Sept. 17, to continue conference play.
