The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints traveled to Smith County last Thursday to take on the Gordonsville Tigerettes. The game would turn out as a big with for the team.
The Lady Saints scored seven points in the first period, with a three-point basket by Emme Colwell, and with Abbi Taylor and Julia Curtis each getting a two-pointer. The Tigerettes were held to four points.
Madison Parsley got in on the scoring for the Lady Saints in the second period, getting a pair of two-point baskets. Macy Hedge and Curtis also added to the scoreboard, each getting a two-pointer of their own. Again, the Tigerettes were held to only four points, giving DMS a 15-8 lead at the half.
DeKalb put another eight points up in the third period, with Curtis getting three two-point baskets, and Sarah Anne Colwell taking one. Gordonsville scored only two points, increasing DMS’s lead, 23-10.
The Lady Saints added yet another eight points in the fourth period, with Curtis taking another three two-pointer, and Taylor getting one. The Tigerettes scored nine, giving DMS the 31-19 victory.
