The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints have begun to wrap up their season with three games played over the past week. The theme for the week seemed to be a strong showing for DeKalb in the first half of play, then letting the game fall out of control in the second.
On Sept. 24, the Lady Saints were on the road, where they faced Prescott Middle School. In the first half the game went back and forth, and ended in a stalemate.
As the second half began, it looked as if the stalemate would continue, but Prescott would find the net with 15 minutes left on the clock. Five minutes later, Prescott would strike again, giving the team the win, 2-0.
DeKalb Goalkeeper Mary Maple had 15 saves on the night.
On Sept. 26, the Lady Saints were again on the road, this time facing Overton County.
Once again DeKalb played the first half back and forth, but the Lady Saints were given a free kick about 20 minutes into the game. Corina Mata shot the free kick from the top of the 18-yard box and scored the game’s first goal.
Five minutes later Overton scored and the half ended in a tie, 1-1.
In the second half Overton dominated and was able to score five more goals. The game ended with an Overton County win, 6-1.
