The DeKalb County High School Lady Tigers soccer team had a short week last week after a Tuesday game at home against Merrol Hyde was cancelled due to lightning storms moving through the area. That game has been rescheduled for Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday however, the team was on the home field taking on Goodpasture. The Lady Tigers started the game energetic and ready to play, but Goodpature was there to make it a tough match.

With only one goal scored all night both teams came to win. All through the first half each team would aggressively fight for the ball with little success of completing a goal. This would leave the score 0-0 to start the second half.

Then, 71 minutes into the game, Angeles Soto took a penalty kick for the Lady Tigers. This would be the one and only time the soccer ball would be drilled into the goal, marking a turning point of the game. The Lady Tigers held on for the 1-0 victory.

Goalkeeper Jessica Billings had 11 saves in the game, but was injured during play and had to come out with Katie Hall taking over as goalie. Hall had six saves.

The Lady Tigers will be on the road for their next game, Sept. 11 at Smith County. Game time is at 5 p.m.
