Community spoiled the Lady Tigers’ home opener, rallying for two goals in the second half for a 2-1 win.

Things looked good for the Lady Tigers in the first half as they maintained ball control and were able to score first when Sarah Starnes found herself eye-to-eye with Community’s goalie, sending the ball whistling past the keep and into the right side of the net at the 21st minute. The goal was set up with an assist by Robin Pafford.

Helping with the first half lead was the Lady Tiger goalie, Ariel Patterson who had her work cut out for her the entire game as she made 19 saves, up significantly from their season-opening win at Upperman when she had to make just two saves in their 8-0 romp of their district rival.

The pressure put on by the Lady Vikings eventually paid off in the 29th minute of the second half when Logan Brothers found the back of the net to knot the game at one. However, six minutes later Jemima Ramos put the ball in goal with an assist from Sara Beth Stacy.

The Lady Tigers went on the road after a close loss, competing in the Smokey Mountain Cup over the weekend. They opened the tourney with a 3-3 tie with Sullivan South in a game played at the Sevier County Soccer Complex on Friday. Saturday did not go as well as they lost to Pigeon Forge in Pigeon Forge 5-1. They wrapped up their mountain swing Sunday with a 1-0 loss to Sevier County.
They were next scheduled to head to Cannon County Tuesday, Aug. 28.
